GatisEglitis EXANTE is one of the co-founders of the investment company EXANTE Sec. He has been a key member of the investment company’s business development team and is currently Executive Director.

Background and early career

GatisEglitis is the Executive Director of EXANTE. Born and raised in Latvia, he has a Bachelor’s degree in International Economic Relations from the University of Latvia. He also has a Master’s degree in Finance from the same university, alongside another Master’s degree in Strategic Management and Finance from Copenhagen Business School in Denmark.

Eglitis started his career at Saxo Bank – a Danish investment bank. He was first an Institutional Sales Trader and then became an Institutional Business Sales Manager. The time Eglitishad with Saxo helped him gain experience in global business development in an investment environment. It also helped him gain familiarity with the financial markets on a professional level.

Working at EXANTE

Eglitis founded the investment company EXANTE alongside Alexey Kirienko and Anatoliy Knyazev in 2011 in Malta. This happened while Eglitis was a member of the executive and investment committee in the country. When it was established, EXANTE changed the game for domestic market participants. This was because at the time, it became the first and only broker in the region to provide global market access, and it was built on a strong trading infrastructure.

In the first few years of EXANTE’s development, Eglitis played a major role in turning the broker from a local player to a global service, connecting markets and investors from all over the world. Eglitis’ professional experience in dealing with complicated financial instruments allowed him to connect with other seasoned investors. These investors typically sought out investing in credit derivatives, statistical equity arbitrage, and futures investing. 2016 saw Eglitis become the Managing Partner of EXANTE, meaning he was now responsible for the brokerage firm’s strategic planning and business development. During his time at EXANTE, Eglitis not only focused on servicing high-profile clients but also helped to transform the broker into a one-stop shop for traders of all experience and skill levels. According to Eglitis, it was important that EXANTE did not alienate any group of investors. He has also received offers to share his forecasts and analysis of the financial markets.

Eglitis is also an avid advocate for building a greener and more sustainable way of life. This passion developed when he moved from Denmark to Malta and was surprised to find the landscape mostly barren. Today, Eglitis is involved in many landscaping projects in the Mediterranean. For example, the EXANTE team has planted over 250 trees and encourages clients to donate funds to create a garden at the Anthony Mamo Oncology Center in Malta.
